Arsenal are without a win in their last four Premier League games and sit second in the table after the 1-0 victory at Anfield.
Liverpool, who have lost seven in a row at Anfield, were without striker Luis Suarez, who has been out since March because of a hamstring injury.
Arsenal, who had won their previous two matches against Liverpool, have won three and drawn one of their last six.
But the Gunners looked like heading to another defeat when captain Mesut Ozil’s free-kick fell kindly for Suarez, whose shot was deflected off goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The Gunners will now be without Olivier Giroud for the trip to Anfield but Wenger says his team are a better side without him than they were without him.
He says his side are “in a good position” to beat Arsenal on Saturday.
Arsenal have not won a league game in five weeks, while the Gunner have won their last two.
The Arsenal manager said: “We want to keep our place.
It is a huge step, I’m not saying it’s easy, it’s very difficult.
But we are in a good place.”
